CVR Partners is a growth-oriented limited partnership formed by CVR Energy, Inc. in June
2007 to own, operate and grow our nitrogen fertilizer business. In April 2011, CVR Partners was listed on the New York
Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “UAN.”
Our nitrogen fertilizer manufacturing facilities, which primarily produce ammonia and urea ammonium nitrate (UAN)
fertilizers, are located in Coffeyville, Kansas, and East Dubuque, Illinois. Coffeyville Resources Nitrogen Fertilizers,
LLC is a subsidiary of CVR Partners, and directly owns and operates the Coffeyville fertilizer plant. East Dubuque
Nitrogen Fertilizers, LLC, also a subsidiary of CVR Partners, directly owns the East Dubuque fertilizer plant.
Construction began on the Coffeyville nitrogen fertilizer facility in 1998. The initial build of the plant included shipping an existing gasification plant to Coffeyville, piece by piece from the West Coast. A Texaco coal gasification plant, originally located in Cool Water, California, was disassembled, refurbished and its technology converted to be able to gasify petroleum coke instead of coal. The plant, which is the only fertilizer facility in North America that utilizes a petroleum coke, or pet coke, gasification process to produce nitrogen fertilizer, first began production in late 2000.
CVR Partners acquired Rentech Nitrogen Partners, L.P., which primarily consists of the East Dubuque fertilizer plant, on April 1, 2016.
Located in East Dubuque, Illinois, the plant uses natural gas to produce nitrogen fertilizer and primarily includes a
1,075 ton-per-day ammonia unit and a 1,100 ton-per-day UAN unit. The facility is located on a
210-acre, 140-foot bluff above the Mississippi River with access to the river for loading certain products.
